How the process works
- Set up a quick call to go over details and pick date and time for your session – I love lifestyle in-home newborn sessions!
- Discuss your vision and what you need to accomplish with these photos – I offer at home lifestyle sessions and in-studio as well as outdoor portrait sessions for families – I love doing a bit of posed family photos and some more candid one – pets are welcome – usually these are done at your home.
- Pay your reservation fee this saves your time and date slot – All sessions include unlimited outfit changes – and editing – The $150 reservation fee goes towards your total at the end. Book a I wasn’t expecting so many good ones!!! Session or above and receive a complimentary Mini Maternity Session with your book!
- All sessions include a zoom meeting to review photos – I do not send proofs – We will then go over which photos you want edited and processed. All packages are customized to each client – (Payment is due with Cash or Card at the time of the zoom meeting – photos will not be edited until Payment is made)
- All selected images are professionally retouched
- Selected images are uploaded to your personal online gallery and are ready to be downloaded. Print release is included in gallery up to 8×10. Large prints can be purchased through my website.
- If you are doing a studio session there are several options we can do – I currently have solid white, solid black, light grey, as well as a blended dark grey for studio sessions. For newborns I have a ton of backdrop colors to choose from as well as all the colors of the rainbow for wrap options as well as baskets and posing items for small kiddos. For flooring we can do dark brown hard wood, white gloss, light grey hardwood, and light oak.
I am fully vaccinated and up to date on everything – I take cleanliness very seriously everything is fresh and clean for your family – I will happily wear a mask during your session as I do have 2 toddlers who bring home the plague weekly

Newborn Sessions – usually last 1-2.5 hours and start at $150 for the reservation fee and this goes towards your total at the end – My average newborn session spends anywhere from $500 – $1500 depending on how you want to build your package/ Please contact Mackenzie to go over pricing as each session is different and pricing is customized for these sessions. Please contact me so we can go over details. Below are a few example packages but everything is a-la-cart to fit everyone’s budgets 🙂

Tips for a great session Newborn
- When should we schedule?
It is best to book during your pregnancy. But shit happens book it today lets get this done!! I do have a flexible schedule so if things happen as they always do please reach out and we will figure something out. No worries, call me, text, keep me in the loop and we will make sure to capture your beautiful family. The session fee of $150+ tax is due to book your spot on my calendar – once the baby is born please contact me asap and we will get you scheduled – If your birth does not go as planned we can mix things up to what ever works best for you and your baby
- What kind of session should we do? In-studio, lifestyle sessions, combo? How about outside?
What ever will make you happy is what we should do – I am very open to your ideas and this is your moment to capture what will make you happy – my ideal client is someone who will laugh at my corny dirty jokes and we can do it like they do on the discovery channel..
I really enjoy working with new mommas and dads and we can do what ever type of session you would like my studio is fully stocked and ready for you!
I would love to come to your home and capture your newborn session! Lifestyle newborn sessions are all about YOU and the idea is for you to be comfortable, relaxed and as authentic as possible. These sessions are ideal for new big sisters and brothers (including the furry, scaley, or feathered kind 🙂
Your baby is only little for a little while and a documentary lifestyle session will definitely capture all those little moments you don’t want to forget and showcase how adorable they are. We can capture your nursery if you like, or everyone snuggled up on a big bed, the couch, dancing in the kitchen ect. The emphasis is on the interactions with family members.
I usually look for an area in the home with good natural light but I will bring a small flash set up just in case as well. If there are sentimental items you wish to include with the photos please let me know and if nothing comes to mind don’t worry about it.
I will bring a few wraps and head bands so we can do a small wrapped session on your bed if you like. Most of the poses will be of the baby snuggled up with you and there siblings.
I find a lot of moms are worried about the mess.. well I have a 4 year old, a 18 month old, and 2 puppies….
I run my own business so imagine the tornado my house can get to!! Let the mess be I DONT CARE!!! As long as just the area we are shooting is picked up and odds and ends hidden in a separate area don’t clean everything it won’t show and I won’t remember.. the day is about fun and snuggling.
- You are now promoted to the Assistant to the Regional Photographer
I do not work with an assistant so mom or dad will most likely need to “spot” the baby for some poses. Which generally means I pose them and if we are doing a difficult pose I ask that you can place a finger on them to keep them steady – Please let me know if you have any restrictions so we can plan ahead.
- How long do newborn sessions last? What’s the difference between a full and mini session?
A full newborn session can last up to three hours, while a mini newborn generally lasts 30 minutes to 1 hour. It all depends on the baby and what your goal images are. Some babies
sleep the entire time and let me pose them while others are awake the whole time.
A mini session is perfect for parents who want to be in and out with just a few images.
Newborn mini sessions lasts about 30 minutes. We will do a variety of
poses and you can pick which you want during our zoom session.
- When is the ideal time to capture these memories?
Newborns are best photographed between 2-14 days old. Please keep in mind that the older the baby is the harder some poses can be. The younger they are usually the sleeper they are. If your baby is born early please let me know as we have more wiggle room on the time frame to do the images – it is best to wait until babies are at least 5lbs to do photos if they are a bit early.
- What to expect with editing
Final edits can take up to eight weeks during busy season, but I always send sneak peeks within the first 1-3 days after your session! This timeline may seem long but it usually does not take this long at all but incase of covid or family emergencies I like to give a big cushion for life’s unexpected times. MY average client has their photos in 2 weeks depending on the time of year.
- What should we wear?
Whatever makes you and your family comfortable. I have several Pinterest examples I can send.
I recommend staying away from the latest trends and going with what you love and wear all the time. Make sure you can comfortably sit, take a knee, and have a bit of flexibility with what you are wearing so we can do a ton of poses.
Avoid clothing that takes the focus away from you. If it’s a bit too big or too tight and you notice before the shoot you will probably notice in the photos and dislike them.
Just in case, I always suggest bringing more than you think you will need for clothing as well as different styles. I do not charge any extra for you to change it up! But we will have a finite amount of time with the baby so please be ready to change when you get here with hair and make up done.
- How to be prepared
Please plan ahead to be at the newborn session for a while – which means you and your
family will need food – and toys for toddlers – bring your favorite snacks for everyone involved – don’t forget hydration and bring your favorite drinks as well.
There are several local fast food restaurants you can swing by as well and we can put it aside
for when you are starving. ( There is a great pizza place by me where we can order a pizza
ahead of time and have it scheduled for pickup 🙂
A fed baby is a happy baby during the session please give yourself and baby some grace and
let them fed as needed – plan ahead and bring extra pumped milk | formula to feed on
demand. Pacifiers help to pose the baby tremendously and even if they don’t usually take one
please bring one and we can see if it will help just for your session so it runs smoother. I will also have a few spare clean ones we can use just for the day
Do not wear the outfits you want photographed in on the drive over (this includes the baby
please bring the baby in a loose fitting jammies \ zip up sleepers are best)
Upon arrival I ask that everyone uses the restroom – washes hands – and changes into photo
outfits – we will then feed the baby – I will have towels\ blankets to protect your clothing. I try
and prioritize the shots we have discussed beforehand and do the hardest poses first – if you
have a small sibling I try very hard to get the family and sibling shots done first – again the
day is about having fun and making memories. I will have a tablet with kiddo friendly shows
ready to go to keep them busy after their photos are done, if you are able to have a family
member or friend pick up the siblings after these photos are done, this is the best option..
My goal is to go with the flow and whatever makes the baby happy is what we do. I do not do
unsafe poses – I will not force the baby into a pose – I will do my best to get the poses we
have discussed but please keep in mind that every baby is a unique tiny human who will have
different flexibility, temperament, and personality. My goal is to give you the best memories
we can and keep the baby safe and comfortable. I do provide a sound machine as well as a
heater to keep the room comfortable for a naked baby – please keep this in mind when you
come to the studio –
- What’s the studio like?
CLEAN – I sanitize all blankets and wraps in-between each newborn – I wipe down the bathroom right before clients get here and also change out the changing pad covers, and towels so they are fresh. I ask that you take off your shoes when you come into my home and wash your hands. If you are wearing your shoes during the session we can spray them with disinfectant before we start. I generally wear a mask during newborn sessions, wash my hands, and sanitize my phone with wipes before we start because I have toddlers who can easily spread germs and I want to protect your little one. I am also up to date on all vaccines and have had a recent tdap 😉
If you are doing a studio session there are several options we can do – I use professional posing blocks to keep your baby safe during the session.
I currently have solid white, solid black, light grey, as well as a blended dark grey for backgrounds for families – For newborns I have the entire rainbow of backdrop colors we can use for posed images to choose from as well as an excessive amount of wrap options that match! Of course those super fluffy blankets as well. Baskets are overflowing my closets and I have a few dream catcher props as well that we can use. I also have a few little chairs, and stools for toddlers to sit.
For flooring we can do dark brown hardwood, white gloss, light grey hardwood, and light oak.
I do have a cozy little couch for parents to sit on and we can also use this as a prop if you like – or a crash pad for millions of baby items.

Cake Smash | MileStones | Kids Backdrops
There are tons of options for cake smashes and milestone sessions – If you don’t see one above you like please let me know and we can look for a backdrop for your theme! – It is best to plan sessions 2-3 weeks before your celebration time so we / you can order any custom props and back drops for the session. There is a $50 additional fee for new custom backdrops – If you would like a balloon garland please let me know in advance so we can order one for you. I charge cost for these plus $20 to make it inhouse for you – You will get to take it home with you as I am allergic to latex!! If you see a back drop above and want to order a costume / props to match we can discuss splitting the cost ( I do not always do this but am open for discussion!) Splitting the cost goes for other props and wrap colors / background fabrics for little ones as well!

We booked MacKenzie for a newborn shoot and we are so happy we did! She came to our house which was so convenient! Our photos are absolutely gorgeous and sentimental as they were taken in our personal home. Turn around time was extremely fast! I hired Mackenzie to shoot newborn photos and could not recommend her more highly. She did a beautiful job taking pictures of my family and was even able to get all three of our dogs to cooperate. Mackenzie was able to accommodate me almost immediately for newborn photographs. She is very fast in her replies and inquiries. We had an amazing time getting photographed by her. She was able to get my 2 year old to cooperate and smile in the photos which was awesome. She knows how to work with kids and newborns so well. Overall our first professional photography session was great and she made it so easy for us at home.

MacKenzie took our newborn photos for us and they turned out amaizng! She really took the time to make sure we were comfortable and that we got all of the shots we wanted. We would definately have MacKenzie take photos for us again.

I can not recommend MacKenzie enough! My friend purchased a newborn session for me as a gift and MacKenzie truly has a gift for photography. I’m a graphic designer by trade and I’ve done photography as well. I know the skill set involved. This was my 4th baby and her photos were the best out of all the photos we had done in the past with my other kids. The amount of work she does with editing and making sure you get the exact shot you want is beyond what any other photographer I’ve hired does and I know firsthand how much work is involved with that and she doesn’t charge extra for every little edit. She was also super chill and easy to work with. My kids warmed up to her easily and it made for great smiles!

I had Mackenzie Carullo Photography do new born photos at my home. I didn’t want to take my baby out of the home for to CoVid, so I liked that Mackenzie was able to come to my home and follow Covid precautions, so that I felt comfortable. I also liked that she is in Aurora and is a local small business. She went through all of the photos with my via zoom so that I could select the ones I liked best. The photos came out wonderful and I am so glad I got them.
Mackenzie has done my maternity photos as well as my newborn photoshoot, and will be my go-to photographer from now on. She has a fun personality and makes you feel at ease for the session. She did our newborn session in our home, and followed covid precautions so we felt comfortable. She wore a mask through the session, and sanitized everything. We picked our photos in a zoom session, which was a great way to social distance. She did such a great job making me feel comfortable during the session, as I normally avoid having my photo taken as much as possible. She was patient when my baby was fussy, and managed to capture amazing photos of our little family. I can’t recommend her enough.
