This is the question I get more than any other. And honestly? Most people make it way harder than it needs to be.

Here’s the short version: wear what makes you feel like you. Then read the rest of this so you don’t accidentally tank your photos with a bad pattern choice.

Start with 3–7 outfits.

One dressed up, one casual, one in between. Some alternative tops and accessories to make it actually you will give a better photos. This gives your gallery variety without turning your session into fake version of you for social media. I build outfit changes into every session — no extra charge, no rushing, my changer for all sexes come with me to every session.

Color is your friend. Patterns that you like should be there

Solid colors photograph beautifully against Colorado’s outdoor backdrops — earthy tones, warm neutrals, dusty blues and greens work especially well in the Aurora and Parker area where we’re often shooting against fields, open skies, or the Rockies in the distance. Avoid keeping up with the joneses and be yourself.

Fit matters more than brand.

A well-fitted thrift store outfit will outperform an ill-fitting designer one every time. If something is pulling, bunching, or you keep adjusting it at home — leave it at home.. or be the pain in the ass bring it and we will knock out one or two in it and happily strip it off after!

Shoes and accessories: intentional, not excessive.

Your shoes are in more shots than you realize. Make sure they’re clean and they actually go with the outfit. Accessories should add to the look, not compete with your face for attention. We do alot of walking so bring the old shoes and pop on the nice ones once we get to the spots

For guys specifically: A fitted button-down (untucked or tucked — both work), dark or neutral chinos or jeans, and clean sneakers or boots. Add a jacket or hoodie for a second look. Bring your band t-shirts and hunting gear if that’s what your into. That’s it. You’re done.

For girls: One flowy/boho outfit tends to photograph beautifully outdoors. One more structured or dressed-up look. Bring a jacket or oversized flannel for layering — Colorado weather in the morning can be unpredictable even in summer, have some fun bring the giant hoodies and ripped up jeans.. its about you girl not the who’s the hottest on tik-tok right now trends.

The one thing I’ll always ask you: Do you feel like yourself in it? If you’re tugging at it, second-guessing it, or wearing it because your mom picked it ( you owe her at least one or two suck it up then we will do you boo ) — that’s going to show. I can work with bold, I can work with simple. I cannot work with uncomfortable and wrinkled..

If you want to talk through outfits before your session, I’m always happy to help. That’s part of the process — not an extra.

Book your session here and we’ll figure it all out together.
